Round Handmade Decoupage Keepsake Box | Upcycled Vintage Candy Box | 8-Inch Memory Box | One-of-a-Kind Paper Collage Storage

Description
This one-of-a-kind round candy box began as a simple confectionery box and has been completely reimagined as a small collectible storage object.

Measuring approximately 8 inches across and 3 inches high, it has been reinforced with a strengthened lining and base, then covered by hand with layered vintage-inspired paper, newspaper fragments, printed ephemera, photographs, painted surfaces, and protective varnish. Decorative hardware and contrasting painted details give it the presence of a small wooden box, while its construction remains entirely paper, glue, paint, and related mixed-media materials.

The lid features a collaged black-and-white photograph, printed fragments, a decorative central button, and a vivid painted border. The sides continue the collage with text, imagery, and layered color, creating a box that rewards both practical use and close looking.

Use it to store:
Letters and postcards
Photographs and small keepsakes
Jewelry, watches, or accessories
Matchbooks, ticket stubs, and travel memories
Desk objects, ribbons, buttons, or small collections
Nothing at all—it is beautiful simply displayed on a shelf

The box has the visual permanence of a small wood object, but it is 100% paper and glue-based, with paint, decorative hardware, and protective varnish added by hand. It should be treated as a decorative keepsake box rather than as heavy-duty storage.

No two American Boy boxes are alike. Each one is built from a found object and transformed through its own combination of imagery, color, texture, and surface.

Frequently Asked Questions

Custom and personalized orders

Sure! I have had people ask for candles with no scent and candles with a scent I don't currently pour. I have had requests for vessels with more postage stamps and with buyer supplied ephemera. Want 20-year-old gramma on a candle? I can do that. Custom prices run a bout 25% above standard. Just send me an email to get the conversation started.

Shipping costs?

Etsy recommends I ship for under 6 bucks. I charge $11-16 which is pretty much exactly what it costs me. I would love to ship for free, but I just can't absorb that and keep prices where they are. These little gems are a lot of work!

How long does one candle take to make?

A long time! This is not a good business model!

Joking aside, here is how these are created. Each vessel is sourced (usually at my local Goodwill), cleaned thoroughly, masked with tape, decoupaged with 20-60 different items, dried, sealed, and finally polished. There is no way to assembly-line this process and each container spends between 20 and 40 minutes in my hands. This is why my prices are where they are - and I may have to raise them soon so buy now!

Once a vessel is done, the process is the same for all the candle sellers -- measure, wick, melt, temper, fragrance, pour, cure, surface, label, and package.
